Bison Trails Beefs Up Legal Compliance Team With Former Goldman Sachs Exec

Bison Trails takes on general counsel to engage with global policymakers on compliance and legal regulation matters.

Blockchain infrastructure-as-a-service company Bison Trails announced Aug. 4 that it has appointed a general counsel to focus on policy and regulatory issues specific to blockchain infrastructure.

Elizabeth Ralston has previously served in a legal capacity at blockchain investment firm BlockTower Capital and as vice president of Goldman Sachs legal division.

Blockchain industry increasingly working with regulators

As it has matured, the blockchain industry has placed a greater importance on working with regulators to influence policy as it is being created. Bison Trails clearly believes that Ralston is the woman with the experience to take on this role. As CEO Joe Lallouz explained:

“An in-house general counsel will add a trusted, strategic partner to the leadership team who will help drive strategy and operations as they intersect with risk, legal, policy, and compliance […] Elizabeth is the perfect fit to get that job done.”

Ralston will directly oversee legal, risk, compliance and policy matters, and is committed to the push for mass adoption of blockchain technology, saying:

“Given that thoughtful regulation is integral to mass adoption, I look forward to setting a regulatory precedent that paves the way for this budding ecosystem. I am determined to fiercely advocate for this transformative industry.”

Blazing a trail with protocol support

Blockchain Trails is a member of both the Libra Association and the Celo Alliance.

As Cointelegraph has reported, it has recently been adding support for an increasing number of protocols, such as Ethereum’s switch to proof-of-stake with ETH 2.0 and NEAR, a platform which is designed to power open finance and the open web.
